We're a family of four living in Melbourne, Australia, with strong roots in Ardee, County Louth. While life has taken us to the other side of the world, Ardee will always feel like home.
We return regularly to visit family and friends and created Ardee Retreat so others can experience the same warm welcome, strong sense of community and local charm that have kept us connected to the town for so many years.
Although we manage the property from Australia, you'll be looked after by our local host and family members in Ardee, ensuring friendly local support throughout your stay.
Ardee Retreat is more than a holiday rental. It's a home we've carefully renovated and furnished to create the kind of place we'd love to stay ourselves.
Whether you're visiting family, attending a wedding, enjoying a golf break, exploring Ireland's Ancient East or simply looking for a comfortable base in County Louth, we hope you'll feel at home from the moment you arrive.
Sleeping up to six guests, Ardee Retreat combines modern comforts with the character and history of one of Ardee's most unique areas.
One of the things that makes Ardee Retreat unique is its connection to the town's industrial heritage.
The property was built within the original stone walls of the former Ardee Corn Mills, preserving a link to an important chapter in Ardee's history.
For centuries, milling played a vital role in the local economy, supporting farming communities across County Louth and beyond. By the nineteenth century, the town's steam-powered mills were operated by M. Halpenny & Co., Millers and Corn Merchants.
Today, while the machinery has long disappeared, elements of the original stone mill remain. Guests can enjoy a modern heritage holiday home while experiencing a small piece of Ardee's rich history.
Ardee sits at the crossroads of Counties Louth, Meath and Monaghan, making it an ideal base for exploring Ireland's Ancient East.
Many of Ireland's best-known attractions, including Newgrange, Monasterboice, Slane, Carlingford and the Boyne Valley, are within easy reach.
What we love most, however, is that Ardee still feels like a genuine Irish market town, where guests can walk to cafés, pubs, restaurants and shops while enjoying the friendly atmosphere that has always made the town special.
Whether you're visiting for a family celebration, wedding, golf trip, business stay or relaxing getaway, we hope Ardee Retreat becomes your home away from home.
We look forward to welcoming you to Ardee and helping you create lasting memories in this special corner of Ireland.
Vicki, Cal and Family
